There is a relaunch as the Chemistry for Climate Action Challenge after five successful iterations of the Elsevier Foundation Green & Sustainable Chemistry Challenge and thousands of submissions from across the globe. The greatest threat to the future of our world is climate change, thus it is imperative that we act.
We understand the importance of chemical sciences in creating a sustainable future. Climate Action, one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizes the need to support methods for strengthening capacity for effective climate change-related planning and management in least developed countries, notably concentrating on women, youth, and local and disadvantaged populations.
In addition to supporting SDG5, Gender Equality, with a new emphasis on climate action, the Challenge also acknowledges the crucial part that women play in tackling climate change.
The ideas that are submitted for the Challenge must have a gender component, such as discussing how women can adapt to climate change and take part in policy-making and leadership roles.
Read the whole description of the Challenge and the standards by which the ideas will be judged before submitting your proposal. The Elsevier Foundation and the team behind Elsevier’s chemistry publications jointly oversee the Elsevier Foundation Chemistry for Climate Action Challenge.
A reward of €25,000 will be given to each of the winning proposals.
The winners will be revealed during the Dresden, Germany, Elsevier Green & Sustainable Chemistry Conference, which takes place 22–24 May 2023.
