Ghana lays in a very beautiful tropical rain forest, and we have the savannahs he said. I’m a farmer I can tell you from Oti Region, through the savannah to Northern Region, Upper East, and Upper West alone can feed Ghana and beyond. Ceciyaa Foundation has farms in Oti and Savannah Region, we farm vegetables, cereals, and tubers. So we have the land to produce for our manufacturing industries. The question is do these manufacturers want what we prduce? If they do why haven’t they involved themselves in the production?
He opined that agriculture is indeed creating lots of jobs in Ghana, but the problem is the challenges are so much. This can be attributed to outside influence, governmental influence, lack of funds, culture, and tradition. So if we can deal with all these problems we would see that indeed agriculture is creating enough jobs.
Ways to overcome some of these challenges facing agriculture is by changing or modifying our culture. This alone would change the mindset of the people.
He advised NGOs to stop giving and giving the youth things instead of empowering them to be able to sustain themselves.
He advised young entrepreneurs who want to venture into agriculture to learn to sacrifice, be disciplined, develop a passion for it, believe in themselves, learn from others, and also share their ideas with their team or an investor.
He concluded by saying becoming a farmer is the best decision one could make. Farming is indeed profitable in Ghana but one would not reap the benefits instantly, instead, there is the Possibility of Prosperity Under Progressive Performance.
